The Purpose of the Conference:
|
The Japanese Ministry of Justice launched the “Japanese Law Translation” project. Its website (http://www.japaneselawtranslation.go.jp/) started to disseminate the Japanese text of major laws and its English translation from April, 2009. This move is a timely response to the world trend of sharing legal information.
The global sharing of legal information provides great opportunity for both law and information science to launch new academic research projects. It is our great pleasure to have attendance of a representative of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation. The EU Directorate-General for Translation has extensive experience in multi-lingual translation of law and is regarded as a leader of this subject. In the conference, we would like to share the experience and thought of the EU representative and to clarify interdisciplinary projects of law and information science for the future. This is to pursue a possibility to share legal information in Asia, to link legal information of Asia to EU, and to create global sharing of legal information. |
